The Beverly Drive-In Theatre opened on May 29, 1948. It was Hattiesburg's first. The owners built their home beneath the screen where they live until this day. Under their management, the light of an R-rated film never passed through a Beverly projector lens. Families always expected and got wholesome entertainment in a wholesome atmosphere. Even though The Beverly closed in 1987 the screen and grounds are maintained in the hope of reopening.
