Dall's Sheep

These creamy white mountain goats are found on rugged rocky cliffs and alpine meadows. They have remarkable climbing ability and are able to bound over jagged rocks with remarkable speed and agility. Dall's Sheep are often found in large herds of near 100 animals. The males have massive spiral horns that are used in battling for dominance and breeding rights. Females have much smaller horns that are only slightly curved. Each female gives birth to 1-3 young each spring. Females stay with their mother's group for life. Males leave to join bachelor herds at 2-4 years of age. Range: Alaska and northwest Canada....Hattiesburg Zoo
